Greyhound Planet Day 2002 Memories

September 22, 2002

Boston, MA, USA (photos courtesy of Sue Scott)

Thanks to everyone who participated in Greyhound Planet Day. It was fun and good exposure for the greyhounds. PETCO's roundup and, on the East coast pin sale money, was raised with the intention of having these proceeds distributed to local greyhound adoption groups.

We had lovely weather. About fifty greyhounds celebrated Greyhound Planet Day in the early autumn sun on the Boston Common. We walked to the Charles River and some of the more daring dogs waded in. TV channels 4 and 7 and New England Cable News covered this pleasant event. We hope more adoptions are a result.

The crowd of people and hounds waiting for the start of the walk.

The Peace Abbey guesthouse. If you are in the Boston area and need to stay overnight, consider staying here. It's a wonderful alternative to any generic hotel. The Abbey generously supports Greyhound adoption.

Sleepy hounds in the car on the way home. (Souris is the blue Greyhound and Corky is the brindle lurcher from Ireland.)

Benalla, Victoria, Australia

We celebrated GreyhoundPlanetDay 2002 in Benalla, a small country town in Victoria, Australia. We had 8 greyhounds turn up for our first gathering and it was such a success we now are having them every 3 months or so. We did a street walk and got lots of interest and handed out info to all. It was a greyt day.
