- News from Marion Fitzgibbon in Ireland.......
- 13 March 2003
These dogs were left on a gypsy site
that was abandoned after one of the men died in an accident. It is
the custom to burn all the possessions and leave. They will probably
be back for some of the dogs in a few days. The other danger is that
if we do not take them they will be collected and go to the dog pound
for destruction. We took three in to-day and hope to go back
to-morrow and try and get more of them. The situation is very bad at
the moment.

More news from Marion a couple of days later......
The new dogs are very depressed and I know I should not be
surprised. They just have their heads down and will not look you in
the eye. However, there is a slight wag of the tails between their
legs. We have mange, lice and fleas and malnutrition in whatever order
you like to take it. We can offer so little but these dogs are so
grateful for even the smallest crumb.
Niamh and I are going down to the Sanctuary land to-day as the sun
is shining. We will sit there and try and imagine what it will be like
in the future. We have to try and charge our batteries.
Marion.
Marion is struggling with trying to find places for
these dogs. She has no more room at the kennel and is trying to find
boarding kennels to house them. We hope to raise enough funds to keep
the dogs at the boarding kennels until homes can be found. If you can

Nellie........
Here are some photos of Nellie. She is
beautiful and was rescued recently from a breeder who neglected her
totally. She broke her leg when she was a few months old and it was
never fixed. She now needs major surgery to realign her front leg.
She is twenty-two months old and has spent all her life locked in a
shed. She is still a little shy but very gentle. She would have
spent all her life as a breeding female just feeding puppies if we
had not been lucky enough to get her.
Many thanks
Marion.
