- Hi everyone,

- People here in the US and overseas
are continuing efforts to help the Spanish Greyhounds and Galgos.
And now we need your help again sending emails or letters. We
are focusing on the Spanish tourism offices. A large part of
Spain's revenue comes from their tourist industry. By letting
them know that we will not visit or purchase Spanish made goods,
it will add pressure for the government to act in helping these
dogs.

- Your country of Spain is a very beautiful
country. You have a very rich cultural heritage with many lovely
natural areas and manmade monuments and structures. Many people
I know would enjoy a visit to your country. But along with all
the beauty comes some very dark and disturbing practices and
activities. Horrible enough to keep me from ever visiting until
this brutality ceases.

- The treatment of and lack of compassion
for the racing Greyhounds and hunting Galgos in Spain is appalling.
The dogs at the Meridiana track are frequently imported from
Ireland or England and must endure a very long trip with no stops
for rest in a transport vehicle unsuitable for their needs. No
time for exercise or simply to relieve themselves outside of
their transport vehicle. No heat in the cold windy times and
no shade in the hot, blistering times. It's doubtful if they
are even fed or given clean water to drink on their long, hard
journey.

- And things don't improve much once
they get to their destination. They are housed in tiny kennels,
much too small for their needs. They receive little veterinary
care and treatment. And if they don't outrun their competition
- certain death. The Galgos face certain death as well in your
country. These beautiful, sensitive creatures do their master's
bidding and hunt until they are no longer needed. Then they are
rewarded with a bullet or to slowly strangle while being hung
by a rope from a tree.

- Racing Greyhounds and their Spanish
Galgo cousins are much loved breeds here in America. We are outraged
at the acceptable practices of torturing, mutilating and inhumanely
killing of these dogs in Spain. You must ask your government
to act to strengthen your animal welfare laws and to enforce
them actively. Tougher penalties must be put in place to prevent
this unnecesary cruelty to man's best friend to continue.

- The world is watching Spain. Will you
allow your country to continue to be tarnished by the actions
of these heartless people? Or will you use your voice for those
who have none and show the world that the people of Spain will
no longer tolerate these cruelties?

- I look forward to the day when your
country does not turn away from the needs and safety of these
wonderful dogs. It will only be then that I will visit your country
or purchase any items made in Spain.
