This pup is 1-2 years old, maybe 40 lbs or so. She is in a lot of pain and can't use her front leg. She has a big patch of road rash on her shoulder and gashes in her usable front leg. She has had no medical attention and the local vet is just a clinic and can't do much for her. Can anyone pull her? Transport help is available to Cincinnati/Lexington/Louisville/Frankfort.

This poor dog's owners left her tied to the shelter gate early in the morning before the shelter opened but left her babies loose.
The puppies all got hit by cars and were dead on road by the time the staff arrived. A woman from the gas station next door said that before she could get to it, she watched one of the babies get hit and saw the momma dog "shrieking and flailing" trying to get to her baby but unable to break free from the fence.
She has clearly not been taken care of, she's underweight and nearly bald. She's in such poor shape we can't even tell what kind of hound she is but shelter staff say she's a large girl and based on the remaining hair, I'd guess maybe a black and tan coonhound? In spite of her poor treatment, like most hounds she remains a sweet dog and was a good mother. She just looks heartbroken now.
This gentle dog - who we've named Tilda - urgently needs help. We've got a vet coming in tomorrow and we're hoping he can give us a diagnosis on her skin (I'd guess mange) but in house medical care is pretty limited and the shelter is over crowded as usual. If there's anyone out there who could save Tilda, nurse her back to health, and give her a happy life, we would be so grateful. Contact: HANNAH:pupresqpupresq@bellsouth.net
All you need to do is to look into the terrified eyes of this damaged dog and you will know all you need to know about her story.

Whippet lurcher rescued last evening. She had been used as bait for fighting dogs. Left on green area in city. She is not doing very well but we hope she will survive.
You can help this dog with a contribution to Limerick Animal Welfare
This is Max. He is awaiting a home at the Limerick Shelter in Ireland.
He is an elderly greyhound and the sweetest dog imaginable. We heard that he was going to be shot as he was taking up space in the greyhound kennel. He is very thin and has an old leg injury but otherwise his heart is strong and he has a lot of love to offer. We are amazed that he is so gracious after the terrible life he has endured. We hope he will find a loving home here in Ireland but in the meantime he is very happy in his warm bed with the heater on at his back. He did not leave his bed for 48 hours when he came in but now he is happy to take a ramble in the paddock and go for short walks with the girls.
This greyhound was picked up in August, 2009. He is still looking for a home. Here is the story as related by his rescuers.
He looked terrible and was suffering a lot because of the mange mites eating into him. Aldi is just 2 years old and his condition is really terrible. You can see the kennel behind him is spattered with blood from the scratching. His name is "Approach Billy" and he failed four trials so never qualified to race. He had his last trial in Cork on April 21st and then "changed hands" on April 29th. He could not have been sold at auction as he never qualified to race. We have the name of the new registered owner and are trying to track him down. Of course he can say the greyhound was stolen or ran away.
Then this morning we got a call that two black greyhounds were running on the motorway in Dooradoyle. We managed to catch the dogs with great difficulty and I do not know how they were not killed. They were trying to jump the central barrier. However they were friendly and were glad to get to safety. They are two black females and only look about ten months. I cannot trace the ear tattoos yet and am waiting to get on to Clonmel in the morning. They are not listed on the web site. We are also trying to catch two greyhounds straying in Kilmallock.
They seem to be letting dogs all over the place as nobody is buying at the Sales.

Latest Photo of Aldi (right). He is making good progress and very friendly.
Aldi is still waiting for his forever people to come and adopt him. He is looking great and loves his walks but still a bit suspicious of strangers. He loves his bed and all the girls at the Sanctuary and he is a very happy greyhound. I am sure someone will fall in love with him eventually.

Iris is an Irish lurcher who lost her eye and her home as a result of being hit by a car.
According to Marion Fitzgibbon who runs the Sanctuary in Limerick:
"This one of our latest lurchers to come in during the Halloween Bonfires. This time of year is very dangerous for all dogs as the noise of the fireworks and the many fires burning all over the city terrify the dogs. This lurcher ran into a car at traffic lights and got badly injured. Unfortunately she had to have emergency surgery to remove her eye. She is recovering well and is very gently [sic] in spite of her ordeal. She is from a local gypsy site but they are not interested in her as she has lost her eye and also had damage to several of her toes. She is now safe and happily resting at the Sanctuary .
Many thanks to all our supporters.
Iris has found a wonderful home in Wales. We could not find a home for her in Ireland due to the fact that she only had one eye and she was so timid. Many Tears Rescue in Wales found her a loving home. Sylvia who runs Many Tears takes in all breeds and in particular unfortunate dogs that are old or injured and from Puppy Mills. Many Tears is a wonderful Charity and we are most grateful for their support.

This is little Prince Gerard who is only 12 weeks old. He was found in a town near the (Limerick)Sanctuary with a cable tied around his
neck.
We do not usually get greyhound puppies abandoned and this little fellow is very thin and infested with parasites. We hope he will get stronger with plenty of TLC. A kind lady saw him and picked him up and brought him over to the Sanctuary. One of our volunteers says the Sanctuary is a modest place but miracles happen there every day.
Prince Gerard has found a great forever home.

Purdie was saved at the last minute as the owner was going to shoot her. She is in very poor condition with many pressure sores and very poor coat. She is very nervous and has been neglected for some time.
She was too slow to qualify and never made the grade. She is a sweetheart and appreciates her soft bed and some good food .
Here is an updated picture of Purdy. She s looking and feeling bettter. She is still shy with strangers but getting more confident every day.
Purdy has been adopted into a great forever home.
